Ode to the path

When all is said and done, and the tools are laid to rest
The work has been created and I know I’ve done my best
The critique has all been given and the words are full of praise
Where did all the hours go, I’ve lived them through a haze

The frustration and the heartache
The failures and the pain
One slip at any moment and I’d have to start again

Just what keeps me going, I really can’t explain?
But I know for sure tomorrow, I’ll be at it once again
