Found this little guy in my yard while I was cleaning up storm debris. Anyone know what exactly, it is?

Show us the other side please! There will be other markings that will be more distinctive and will help with recognition. I think that it is a Polyphemus Moth caterpillar. They are so big and cool! So are the moths!

How big is it now, and what is it's food source currently?

Janel,

I was running a string trimmer in my fron yard which is mostly pine trees and very little vegetation. This fellow was crawling on the pine straw so I picked him up and placed him on a Dogwood tree limb to photograph.

Hi Don,

Thanks for the additional photos. Check this page out. I am 99% sure that this is a polyphemus caterpillar, not yet fully grown. I hope that it found its food source to continue growing. They are such beautiful moths.
