I received an email message from Kenneth Neaves, a gemstone carver for over 40 years. He recommends Daniel Lopacki Co. as a tool source ("the best place to buy diamond tools").

I found one tip here, Daniel Lopacki's Tips, that would be helpful to those of us who carve very tiny elements that need holding over a period of time. I grow callouses on my finger tips sometimes, and his suggestion for altering a spring-clothespin into a mini-vise has some potential for sparing my fingertips from getting sore and hands tired of clamping the tiny pieces. I can imagine that each need can have a clothespin adapted to fit the piece being carved.
