Came across this on the Orchid jewellery forum , I have only looked at one of the videos so far , but it is the only time I have ever seen anyone fusing tortoiseshell together!!

I am very impressed, I have now watched all the tortoiseshell vids, if only I knew what she was saying! anyone care to translate? .....Ford? I assume it is standard Japanese. I have not looked at the ones on ivory carving yet.

the video was interesting as far as technique. looks like the shell is worked the same as cow horn.i was unable to see exactly how the shell was fused to another piece though. it also looks like a vidoe from the early 60's as the international sale of sea turtle shell is now banned.

Thanks Tim for this interesting link. There are a lot of interesting video's. I have downloaded 44 already. I didn't watch all of them yet, but what I have seen is very nice. Amongst others woodcarving and ivory carving.
