  2. Doc martins Bombay inks, scrimshaw for the colors. The original drawing for the Hei Toki. Might help with the visualization.
  3. Hi Robert C, Thank you for sharing the images, and for figuring out how to downsize them. I am enjoying trying to "see" the different imagery between the positive and negative spaces on the top, right pendant image. The lashing on that one is nicely done, also. What are you using for the pigments on the colored pieces? Janel

    Stormy Weather

Hey Ed, Good news about the hip, I hope that recovery is steady. Stick with the PT, needless to say. I hope that your area weathered the storm and rain totals well. We are having the hot and humid weeks of summer here. For those of us used to long winters, these days are a challenge. But, we waited all winter for them, so we try to revel in them! Best wishes for your recovery, Janel

Yes we are having a storm again . Where I am we should not have much to worry , most of the problems will be in Louisiana. North Dakota carving classes

My home club, the Flickertail Woodcarvers, has a carving show and classes every year - including always a beginners' class running 9 evenings from mid-Oct thru Dec. This year is our 50th anniversary, and we've pulled out the big guns - Jay Haavik (of the Oseberg Viking ship recreation) is our featured carver and teaching a class, and Karen Henderson will be teaching greenwood spoon carving and selling interesting blanks (lilac wood has wonderful purple streaks through it.) If you haven't been able to get into Jay Haavik classes elsewhere, come visit us! If you're in the area, come visit us anyway! We are fun friendly people to carve with!
  18. Hello! I wanted to pass on this free online carving class. Unfortunately it's only free live - so the mornings of July 1-3, 2019 - but hopefully the retired and stay-at-home among us can get something useful out of it. I plan to check briefly on my lunch breaks to see if it would be worth paying for the recorded version, afterwards. https://www.curiousmondo.com/carve-glass-and-stone-free

    Hello from Oregon

You might want to think about the book listed below. I have taken two classes from Mr. Friesen and they were very good. the book is a summary of his classes and the tools used. The fixed carving arbor that is used is available from Diamond Pacific, but if you can find the fordom polishing arbor and chuck from another vendor it will be cheaper.
