Mark Strom
Here are the finished rabbits, took awhile as they are not commissions. The small rabbit was finished with lacquer with a walnut wax rubbed into the fur. The larger rabbit was stained with a light oak stain reduced by 75% and then lacquer. The inlay and frames are mahogany. Mark
Mike Ruslander
Gorgeous, Mark. Is that an inlayed border just inside the frame?
Janel
Thank you Mark for showing us the finished rabbits! Is the lacquer brushed or sprayed on?
Mark Strom
Thanks Mike, yes that is a mahogany inlay about 1/8" wide. Janel, the lacquer is sprayed with a Binks spray gun, cans are mainly aerosol and do not build a good finish. I use a matte spray by Krylon to dull the finish in selected areas or use a product called Woolwax with steel wool to cut the sheen. Mark
