jake cleland
Hi all. I'm a full time knifemaker living and working on the isle of skye in the north west of scotland. almost all of my carving is on knife handles, particularly on sgian dubh's and dirks, and the occasional viking piece. i also dabble in scrimshaw, lost wax casting and engraving. some of you know me from don fogg's site; i've been lurking here for a while and am amazed and dismayed by the quality of work i've seen. i'm looking forward to asking lots of stupid questions and slowly expanding my repetoire of techniques. here are some pics of some of my carved pieces, pulled pretty much at random from my files:

Mike Ruslander
A belated welcome! I just saw your work. I was going thru past logs to see what I missed during the holidays. Always nice to see another knife person here. Nice details in your handles.
glassartist
those are excellent knives Jake .I am also new to here I'm a glass engraver from Derbyshire England but I am also a deer stalker with a weakness for knives so I do appreciate knives. I have never had the traditional Scottish Sgian Dubhs but I do like them. Whats it like up there in Gods Country at the moment .I will be stalking in kintyre later in the year. Keep up the excellent work David

magnus homestead
Hello Jake, I missed your work earlier too - beautiful carvings and blades. I was born down in London, but my grandmother was from Scotland and I hope to travel back there with my wife one day. We live in the Pacific Northwest USA. I love carving and seeing other celtic designs. Welcome to the forum! Magnus
