Hi all,

I saw this wooden carving of a carp on the Nihonto message board and thought it might make a decent reference for anyone wanting to do their own version of this fish.

Fantastic Ko, :P

I was hoping someone would take up the challenge as it is such a nice model and the images make very good reference.

I really look forward to seeing the work progress....if you would be kind enough to share the process.

thanks and regards,

Bottom view: I didn't carve a himotoshi. I decided to leave it as an okimono. It felt like spoiling the piece by carving the holes. And at 9 cm it is a little large for a netsuke.

The colouring is an extensive proces involving nitric acid, dylon dyes, and black ink. More details can be found on my website under "Example".
