David Broadwell
Hey Jake, That walnut is all knotted up! Nice dagger. I like dagger blades with fine points. The knot work and pierced scabbard are neat. Got any close ups? Good work. David

jake cleland
thanks guys. Mason, the blade is just heat blued. the trick is to get a very even polish, completely degrease it, and heat it very evenly. for a blade you also have to use an alloy steel which is still hard enough at the temperature that the blue oxide forms - pretty much all carbon steels will blue at some temp, but most will be too soft. O1 comes out at around 58rc, just about perfect for a dagger.
