Napilibch
I was hoping I might get some imput as the type of wood this is and the possible orgin of this carving. I have aquired it from the estate of a deceased friend and have no idea where it has come from, what it is made from, and if it is worh trying to repair, as a piece has broken off the one side, as you can see. African Motif, Carved locally(Africa) local wood. Any identifying marks, tool marks, signature, date, etc ?
Napilibch
African Motif, Carved locally(Africa) local wood. Any identifying marks, tool marks, signature, date, etc ? There does not seem to be. I can take another closer look. Also, it is very heavy. Is ther a way to tell if it is "Ironwood"?
Napilibch
Also, the botttom is very coarse, and seemingly on purpose, and very coarse full of tool markings..
StixnCanes
It looks to me like it could be Ebony or African Black wood. I'm no expert, or even that knowledgeable, but from carvings I've seen, that's what I would say.
