spolunin
Be well! Here I have decided to show the works. At the age of 40 years, about ones and a half тет back, for the first time in a life I have tried to cut netsuke. Thanks mr. Sterling for its magnificent book. I do not have art education, I am a lawyer, but I try, study on samples of an ancient and modern carving. A usual material - a teeth of a cachalot, we in Odessa, in 70th years had a big whaling flotilla and consequently till now it is possible to find a material on a flea market. As a carving for me a hobby I give the majority of the cut out works to the friends - as charms for keys and mobile phones. Perhaps, this too daily application for netsuke, but, in my opinion, tactile sensations in нэцке are not less important at all, than visual. Respected Chonchon has recommended to me to be registered at this forum (for it to it gratitude:) - I at first have placed this message on netsuke.org

spolunin
Hello, Sergio! I too Sergey I carve only when it would be desirable, happens that the whole month every day for 5-6 hours, and happens that it is too much work, money needs to be earned and here for example, last two weeks I almost also did not carve Only today again could cut a little - and it is very pleasant! Hello, Mr. Sterling! Perhaps, you do not remember, but I about one and a half years ago sent you photos my works with gratitude for the book - today it is very a shame to me to look at my old works, they too student's. But I try, your book at me is unpacked also I often it I read again and again. It inspires me! Thanks you once again that you, you have pushed me to this fine hobby! spolunin
Here photos of my workshop and my tool. The tool basically the electric. According to the advice of acquaintances I have made the machine of an old microscope for an engraving - the micromotor is simply inserted, depth of a carving - conveniently is very precisely exposed, but now there are no works what to show - has presented:) For polishing and polishing I beat out an emery paper, felt and felt - they are quickly used and to buy their expensive - too high price. Still I have found photos of my works of exactly year back - then I yet did not try to cut a bone, and learnt to cut an alder - a beautiful and accessible tree. spolunin
And here still I tried to engrave the cow horn - it is well straightened, when the hot. It is similar after that to a tortoise armour. My dog has stolen this small fish and has a little chewed - earlier it was better is polished.
