Not a miniature - but check it out

Don,

That is a really nice piece, full of life and movement. I personally love doing relief work. The design breaking the border is nice, always adds life. Look forward to more pictures if you will post them. Word of caution about the glass, keep the finish on the carving either eggshell or matte. The glare and reflection from the glass added to the sheen of the finish can cause the carving to disappear.

Don, it is beautiful, do take it easy and pace yourself - we certantly don't want to loose you. Your work is always so beautiful.

How deep is the relief and what is the wood and what are you using to support against warpage of the panel. 'Lots of questions, teach me your secrets!'

LUV,

Debbie

The deepest part of the carving is not more than 3/8 of an inch at present. I do intend to "free" some of the areas for contrast.

The wood I am using is a piece of kiln dried pine. It is 11 1/2" X 48". I know it would be better in oak, but I had this piece in my shop and I'm comfortable working with it.
