Dick Bonham
I created this sculpture last year and got it back for repair. The owner's grandson thought it would be a fun toy. I took some new shots and thought it might be of interest. Dick

Jim Kelso
Very nice, Dick. Is that 100% fabricated?

Dick Bonham
Thank you all for the complements. I forgot to mention that the piece is lifesize. The grasshopper is about two inches long. Jim, The sculpture is entirely fabercated from a hundred or so individual pieces I find that so much more fun than casting. I am posting a piece with a lifesize cast bee in 14k gold. All other parts are fabercated. The "box" is steel. Dick
Doug Sanders
have you ever done any work where the joints of the critters are articulated? I can just imaging that grasshopper being clockwork, and ticking along in his metallic world.
Dick Bonham
Hi Doug, I have thought about making some of my sculpture articulated like the incredible pieces created by 19c Japanese armorers when they could no longer make swords in the Meiji period. I have done a number of drawings and designs but that is as far as The project has gone. As you have suggested I have thought of making them move.
