Andrew
I was asked to make a wedding gift for friends of a friend. Their wedding theme had lots of paisley's in it, so this is what I came up with. The carving is from a Tagua nut and it's embedded in a burl of some unknown type. I found it washed up on the beach in Santa Barbara, CA. It's coloring is very similar Manzanita but it isn't nearly as dense. I cut and polished the front and bottom faces of the burl and left the rest in it's natural state. The Tagua carving is around 2.5 inches in length. Mike Ruslander
Man, I really like that. I recently carved a Tagua nut too. Isn't it great?

Phil White
Hi Andrew, I really like this piece. Very original idea, clever use of materials, and quite well executed. Well done! Phil
Andrew
Thanks guys. Mike I have to agree that Tagua is a great material to work with. Although the voids in the center are challenging. You never quite know where one crack is going to show up.
