Here are some sequence of traditional metal carving, hope your coments adding and fixing, let it be better and more close to the complete....

 

I really want to collect any topic, any photos which related to the traditional carving, the modern engraving. like the sword fitting, the katana sword, the blade, the all, as long as there are a few relevant. post here pls.

Is the background smoothed by scraping?

And so sorry the late replying.

Yes, the flat and smoothed background by chisels' scraping. no other supportive electrical tooling.

We never used stones. And it is very hard to get a tiny pattern. what is your ideal on that.
