magnus homestead
Hi Phil, I've been studying this exquisite work and I'm truly amazed at the level of complexity overall - for example, what I assume must be ivory scrimshaw inlay for the landscaped backgrounds. I'm trying to get an idea of the time frame such an undertaking must have involved. Is this 6 months work? Less? Or more like a year? Agian - thank you for sharing! Magnus Hi Magnus, The backgrounds are steel and not ivory and it's engraved (cut) not scrimshawed. There's more than seven months work with this one. Phil. magnus homestead
Hi Phil, Thanks for the reply - I was thinking the backgrounds were engraved steel, but then the whiteness of the birches threw me - any chance of a really up close photo of the birch trees? How do you get such wonderful contrasts? This is a truly inspiring piece of work. Blessings, Magnus
