This is not carved but pretty small so i thought i would show it.

The damascus blade is 7/8" long with an over all length of 1 7/16" and 1 3/4" in its 1" sheath made from maple burl.

Fittings are 10k gold and the handle is stabilized box elder burl.

Hi Bob,

That is a sweet, tiny knife! I like how you matched the ripple grain of the sheath with the Damascus pattern of the blade. What sorts of challenges do you face when working so small with making the knife and parts as a whole?

Also, what is the handle made of?

It is good to see you here again!

Hi Janel

There are many challenges making a knife this small but i think the two that i have a hard time with are holding it to work on and seeing what i am doing. I will get an optivisor at some point i hope!

The handle is made from stabilized box elder burl in hindsight i wish i would have made the handle out of the same maple burl as the sheath.

Thanks for the kind words!

Natasha thankyou for the kind words!

Jonathon yes this little knife is fully heat treated just like a big knife.

I heat treated this one with my propane range in the kitchen and quenched in fresh canola oil.

Then straight to the tempering oven for a double temper.
