Gus
Hi everyone, my name is Angus Macrae, i am 27 years old and live in Scotland, UK and i have been carving bone for about a year. My interest in bone carving started from my family, my family are half Maori and half Scottish, i am very proud of my Maori roots so 95% of my carving work is either modern or traditional Maori designs. the mediums i use are cattle bone, Buffalo horn, stag horn, bull horn and wood. I also use pawa shell for inlay on some of my pieces. My work is heavily influenced by Kerry Thompson, David Taylor and a few other NZ artists. Here are a few of my carvings:
Christophe
Hi Gus, Welcome here. I like your work, especially the twist inside the hei matau (picture 3) and also the twist with the manaia head(picture 6), never seen one like this before. By the way, what material did you use for the hei matau on 3rd picture, Buffalo horn? Take care Christophe
