I have been carving pounamu for about 6 years, i learnt at tai poutini polytech in greymouth (where im from) and went on to work as a commericial carver in hokitika for about 3 years and then moved to christchurch to study communication arts, have been using my own set up in the shed to make things every now and again, mainly as a hobby, i would like to get into more creative jewellery pieces in the future. my carving work shop took a bit of a wack in the chch earth quake but hope to set it up again a.s.a.p. I am influenced mainly by my cultural background, Celtic, Viking and Maori (Ngai Tahu), i also create fantasy style art on paperand like to mix cultural designs, if you are keen you can see more of my work at www.koru-art.com P.S sorry for photo quality!!
