"catch Of The Day" 2011

What a great set of smiling fish! The huge teeth on the large fish are terrific. A natural question for you, from a non-stone carver, is the large fish all one piece, or were the teeth inlaid from a whiter stone? Such a great affect with the bright stone contrasting with the lips and body. There was good thought that went into using the color of the stone so well.

Jason:

Superb carving. Great definition and undercuts. And besides all of that, the fish are precious! The teeth don't scare me a bit; I wouldn't be afraid to wear them.

Jason, Very nice design, after your final polish do you use wax, I have tried a wax dipping system that is used in china, I put my carving in boiling water for a few minutes this opens the grains of the jade, and then dip in hot bees wax, it gives the stone better depth, see you if and when you come to Tamworth.
