Kaity
Hello, I'm a new carver and wanted to modify my wax carving tools to work for hardwoods. I'm not an expert on tool steel so I was hoping someone could tell me if I could just sharpen up these tools and use them or if they would be too brittle. The metal is chromium manganese tool steel. Here is the link http://www.wolftools.biz/tools.htm For sharpening, do you think I can just use a sander followed by stropping?
Ed Twilbeck
That is a good question,,, I would contact the company first to see if the tools can be suited for hardwood carving . then I would try sharpening only one to see if it will hold the edge on hardwoods. Hope this helps.
