Kip Kaiser
Hello my name is Kip Kaiser I am a building superintendent in the up state of South Carolina. Married with 6 kid 2 dogs 2 cats 2 parrots about 40 or so chickens. Never a dull moment In the Kaiser house hold. I joined the forum a few weeks back and been waiting to finish this project for my first post. I have had an opportunity to view some of the work on this forum and to be honest its just a little intimidating. I am a knife maker and wanted to bring carving in to my skill set so most of my carvings will knife related. This picture is a knife made out of a file. the guard is wrought iron not fun to carve by the was and the handle is a very old piece of antler. also Im adding a carving just for fun. I like to call him my carolina deer fish. This is my first attempt to carve anything and I learned a lot in the process. Thanks for looking let me know what you think. Janel
Hi Kip, Welcome to The Carving Path! It looks like carving will find its place with your work as you figure things out. Thank you for the pictures of the recent pieces. Janel
michael B
Nice work Kip, I carve stone, mostly jade and rhodonite from Australia, may one day try a bone carving, think I will steer clear of working metals as I have been fabricating out of most types for about 35 years, mostly stainless, my stone carving gives me a break, your shape and style looks great, please post more. Cheers michael B
Christophe
Hi Kip, Welcome on TCP. I really like that you kept some traces of the old file you've been using for your knife and the guard....well may not have been fun to carve, but well done, I like it... Take care Christophe
