Phillip Montgomery
Here is a small pendant i carved recently from a beautiful piece of Mammoth ivory that i was able to achieve a very nice contrasting coloration between the foreground and background ,it just happened to be the the carving was darker then the internal background layer. I was playing around trying to get a very high level of undercutting. I was wanting to give the piece a feeling that it was not on the background material or free standing. I used very tiny burrs on my Foredom flex shaft to do this with, also files and sand paper and a buffing wheel with white diamond for the polish.
