Dan Posted May 22, 2012 Report Share Posted May 22, 2012 looks good......as a starting carver i was planing on using some bone and antler on my lathe. where do you get your source of materials and how well does bone cut? what type of bone and horn is that? what type of glue did you use to attach the center to your rim? Garry Posted May 31, 2012 Author Report Share Posted May 31, 2012 I get my bone and horn from Ebay uk a company called Pietra dura they have lots of stuff including paua shell laminates and other gear. The glue i use is a carpanters glue called Mitre mate it is a gel cyanoacrylic super glue with a spray on activator. Very strong and quick. The horn is cow horn but i polish it black with a leather scratch polish. The bone is Camel bone. Horn is quite soft compared to bone and can burn easy if you dont take your time.
