Low Relief Hardstone Carving

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

I haven't posted for quite a while but have been busy with many things. If I may share with you my first attempt at very low relief hardstone carving (less than 1/3 mm).

It's Zebra stone (around 6.5 mohs) and was cut so that the brown and white bands were parallel then the main features were carved with burrs then I used scrapers to try to get varying shades of colour. The whole thing is about 50mm wide

Any comments or suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks for looking
