Hello, a rock hound and mineral collector here... I discovered that I loved carving after an earthquake broke a friend's jade dragon. Most of the dragon was ok but the wings had broken off... She asked me to fix it. So I researched how to carve Jade and using a flex shaft in a bowl of water carved the wings down so you can't tell it ever had wings!

Now I've discovered that I absolutely love carving Fire Agate! It's a little known stone that is stronger than opal but has layers of fire and colors! It's only found in the South West of the US and North Western part of Mexico. (Don't be confused with "Crab Fire Agate" which is not the same thing at all and pretty ugly to boot.) I've been having trouble getting a "wet shine" on my fire agate and have found some good tips in your forum, so here I am!
