Guest DFogg
I photographed this antique Jade carving using a relatively inexpensive setup called Studio in a Box The lights were not very powerful, but it might be all you need for small carvings. It is extremely portable. The whole thing folds up into a thin, canvas carrying case. Includes two lights on stands, a light weight camera mount (it would not support my Nikon, but would be fine for a consumer digital) and a fold out, three sided translucent scrim for light diffusion. I paid $100 at Wolf Camera. I am not recommending this, but it shows what a setup might look like and certainly has advantages. Anyway, just something to think about since it is so quiet around here. Janel
Thanks for that, Don. A while back I purchased a nylon, white, rectangular box, that folds in on itself for flat storage. I was not able to control the bright glare on my carvings, nor was I able to insert a suitable surface for the piece to sit on. I'll likely figure it out some day.
