Billy
Kia ora Peeps. Latest piece for your viewing. Bit quiet around here lately. Hope this finds you all well. Whalebone amulet used as an aid for reciting whakapapa. The manaia is there as a spiritual guardian and a conduit for contacting our tipuna (ancestors). The notching a representation of the rich whakapapa (genealogy) we all hold. Every now and then, take a little time to reflect on your past. Share with your tamariki and mokopuna (children and grandchildren) stories of your tipuna. Knowledge from the past can help better prepare them for the future. Irishcarver
As usual, an awesome piece. For the little spearhead designs, do you do them all by hand with gravers?
Billy
The 'pakati patterns you're referring to I use my gravers and my micromotor. The micromotor helps me get smooth lines and I define them with my gravers. Cheers bro.

David G
Beautiful work Billy, that fine work is so neat, nothing like a blown up photo to show problems areas and there are never any on your work. How many hours go into these works? David
Billy
Kia ora everybody. For this piece David, about 8-10 hours. Maybe another hour in prepping the bone to start. Cheers B
