Guest ford hallam
greetings all, I don`t know what you did this afternoon but I did this little "sketch" of a fish. The image is twice actual size and the plate is copper. The design is based loosely on a watercolour and is rendered using chisels as my "brushes. I`ve used texture and a little gilding and silvering to add interest. the eye is shakudo although the colour appears washed out somewhat, where`s my magic marker as always, Ford
Dick Bonham
Ford, What a great way to spend an afternoon. I cleaned gutters and helped my wife decorate for Christmas. You had much more fun. Very nice "brush work". The piece has a fresh and clean feel with mininum strokes. It takes a long time to learn how to say so much with so little. Thank's Dick

Dick Bonham
Ford, How are you going to mount the fish? How did you do the gold and silver? Dick
Guest ford hallam
Hi Jim & Dick, The actual panel is about 110mm long. The silvering and gilding is simply electroplating, some before texturing and chiselling, some after. The kind of thing the Taisho period artists got up to as they began to explore the use of this "new" imported technology. I`ve simply extended the textural vocabulary, something I`ve been secretly working on for some time now, I might simply mount it on a plain backing of pale wood, if at all. It may simply end up in the "sample" drawer. regards, Ford
