Small Vise To Hold Carvings.

Recommended Posts

Just seen on a Google search a pic of a small plywood vise or holder for carving ,, thinking on making one for myself.

Looking for some ideas from other carvers ,, who may have made their own .

The one I seen is made by Peil. In Swizterland .it is called a flat carving holder.

Goggle search for ,, carving holder will bring you to it.

I do not want to buy it but make something like it . If anyone has something similar they have made and willing to share,,Please share.

Not bad Ed! I was going to recomend an engravers ball vice. They work very well, are expensive and are very versatil but, if what you came up with suits your needs..... congratulations!

Here is the latest update on the vice ,, made it a swivel vice . The carving is yellow heart for a small box. Found out that yellow heart wood. Is not a pleasure to carve.

Finished the Carving, now to build a box to go with the top. The top is Yellow Heart ,, digging in the wood pile for something to build the rest of the box with.
