Ed Twilbeck
I have some old wood plane bodies that I am sure are boxwood or that is what I was told. I want to know if anyone has ever carved old wood that is near 100 years old. The planes iron are gone and the handles is gone so all I have left is the bodies. One is about 3 X 3 and 24" long. Any Ideas for something to carve out of it.
Janel
I have no idea how old, rather how long the woods which I use have been not connected to its roots. Doing what I do, I would cut it into shorter lengths and make carvings as I usually do. Most people work in a larger scale with wood, so you may have a single idea which might work for the chunk you have. How fortunate you are to have such a piece of wood to daydream about!
