toscano
I just came about an interesting material. The box comes with grains of plastic that are heated in water and made soft. The plastic can then take any form you want until it solidifies again after a few minutes. It seems pretty cheap for small-scale carving purposes at least. I can see it being of potential use for making moulds and such. And seeing as it is reusable, there's no problems with mistakes. More info can be found here. toscano
Gerry, I caught sight of it while looking at a motorcycle blog (it can also be used to mend small cracks in bodywork). I thought it may be useful for a variety of tasks in the carving shop, so I thought I'd mention it here. -t
PS_Bond
This stuff is available under a number of names - I've got some that I bought from Maplin in the UK is called "Polymorph". Interesting stuff; I think I'll try using it for some stone setting I need to do in the near future & see how well that works.
