tsterling
Here's another in my series of "Ugly Fish" knives. I'm almost finished with it - just a few more coats of linseed oil and a few (green?) silk wrappings near the blade. About 7 inches overall, boxwood, with fossil ivory and ebony double inlaid eyes. Procion dye for the the darker dorsal surface, along with pyrographed stipples. 1075/1080 forged steel blade.
toscano
Nice work Tom, Can you tell us anything about the base?? -t
tsterling
Hi Toscano, The base is just a thin slab of walnut (about half an inch thick - 1 cm) with a little piece of semi-rotted root, bottom sanded smooth and flat. The pegs holding the fish are turned and carved from boxwood, and also serve to secure the root to the walnut.
