Ed Twilbeck
Has anybody worked with Sapele wood. I have a 2X2" stick 24" long. It is reddish brown in color. If any one has carved some, I would like to know how does it carve, and what works better hand or power?
Janel
I say just try it! When I bring new wood home, I get my tools and cut some strokes in various directions, one surface to the next surface and rounding a place. The wood grain is revealed, the hardness is experienced and the imagination can start to work. I have no idea about what Sapele wood is. Sorry. You must like the way it looks! Ed Twilbeck
Thanks Jacques I have tried hand carving with the wood I have, and you are right. The wood I have is very grainy, and it splintered. Power carving works great. Thanks to all who answered my ?. Ed
