Guest ford hallam
Hello Joe, Could you please elaborate on what it is you are actually trying to do? Shakudo, as I know it, is not a process but the name of a Japanese alloy. You mention that you have all the stuff and books. Again, could elaborate? I'm in the process of moving house this week-end so might not be able to get back to you for a few days but I reckon once your query is clarified either Patrick Hastings or Jim Kelso could more that adequately provide you with some help. regards, Ford

Jim Kelso
Hi Joe, Can you tell us the alloy mixture? Also, can you post a photo of the piece? How was it polished? These things will help us narrow down the problem. Jim
Joe Cera
The metal is 97%copper 3%fine gold. Jim Kelso
Joe, I think we got it sorted out on the phone. For some reason, the jewelers' rouge polish does not seem to set up the shakudo well for patination. Let us know if the horsehair brush and silicon carbide does the trick. jim
