Engraver's ball question

Hi Marius,

Usually there are four of them, and they are used to extend the range of your ball's clamping ability  .

No really!

The unpadded ends fit into the holes in the top of the ball which leaves the padded ends sticking up to receive large work. I've never used mine, but I can see for a certain type of large plate how they would be useful.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks Jim

That was what I always thought, but mine do not fit into any of the holes. All the holes are standardised to receive all the other fittings but either they never drilled the larger holes or the didn't reduce the ends to fit in the standard holes.

Might be a factory mistake then I guess.

Thanks

Thanks Samuel

Nope, no such luck with the caps. I will probably never have any use for them anyway since all the items and pitch bowls fit as it is. If needed for some odd reason I'll probably make a set of caps myself.

Thanks everyone for the answers.

Marius
