Ed Twilbeck
I found this moth in an Oak tree. It is a CECROPIA, a silk worm moth. It is the largest in the US.

Hyllyn
Beautiful one. In Venezuela there are several species of moths with huge wing span (over 9 inches in some cases from first hand experience) alas I haven't got photos of my own at the moment to show them. The black witch moth is very similar to one of them http://midcoast.tamu.edu/images/moth%20001.jpg And well in the U.S some of you might know the Luna moth, there's a similar one in south america which is slightly larger but with some variation to the shape of the wing. It looks similar to this. http://www.andrewclem.com/Photos/Insects/LunaMoth.jpg Thanks for posting your photo once more it's a wonderful sample. Here's a nice selection of butterflies and moths for those who like them. http://www.150.si.edu/150trav/discover/bfly.htm
Sebastián Urresti
Hi Folks! Here´s a photo of a moth, similar to the venezuelan one, but from Argentina and with a different color. A little bigger than a palm. It stayed in my bathroom for three days. The photo was taken in my backyard, at night. Sorry about the focus...
